“Suplementasi vitamin itu customized ya, antara satu orang dan lainnya kebutuhannya biasanya bisa berbeda. Tergantung penyakit bawaan, sekarang sedang bagaimana kondisinya, pola makan harian, lifestyle, dan lain-lain,” kata perempuan yang akrab disapa dokter Zie itu.
Menurut dia, suplemen hanya berfungsi sebagai tambahan asupan, bukan pengganti makanan bergizi yang menjadi sumber nutrisi utama. Karena itu, seseorang tidak wajib mengonsumsi vitamin apabila kebutuhan nutrisinya sudah tercukupi dari makanan sehari-hari.
“Karena itu kan suplemen alias tambahan asupan yang sebenarnya kalau tubuh sudah cukup makan dari buah dan sayur, ya tidak wajib konsumsi. Jangan dibalik, suplemen di nomor satu sementara makanan utama justru berantakan,” imbuhnya.
Salah satu suplemen yang banyak ditanyakan masyarakat adalah astaxanthin, antioksidan yang dipercaya dapat membantu mengatasi peradangan dan stres oksidatif dalam tubuh. Meski demikian, frekuensi konsumsinya juga perlu disesuaikan dengan kondisi masing-masing individu.
“Untuk kondisi tertentu, misalnya jerawat meradang atau kondisi inflamasi lain yang membutuhkan tambahan antioksidan kuat, astaxanthin bisa saja diminum setiap hari,” jelas dr Zie.
“Tapi kalau masih muda, pola hidup sehat, makan sehat, kulit baik dan tidak ada inflamasi tubuh apa-apa, menurut saya seminggu dua sampai tiga kali sudah cukup,” tambahnya.

Selain astaxanthin, dr Zie menyebut beberapa vitamin dan nutrisi yang dapat membantu mendukung kesehatan kulit berjerawat. Di antaranya zinc, omega-3, vitamin D bagi mereka yang kurang terpapar sinar matahari, serta astaxanthin sebagai antioksidan tambahan.
Meski demikian, dr Zie menekankan bahwa perawatan kulit berjerawat tidak hanya bergantung pada suplemen. Kebiasaan menjaga kebersihan barang yang sering bersentuhan dengan wajah juga berperan penting dalam mengurangi keparahan jerawat.
Ia menyarankan untuk rutin mencuci kuas makeup dan mengganti sarung bantal setidaknya setiap minggu. Sementara bagian dalam helm atau inner helm sebaiknya dibersihkan secara berkala setiap bulan agar tidak menjadi tempat menumpuknya kotoran dan bakteri.
Dokter Zie juga mengimbau masyarakat untuk berkonsultasi dengan dokter sebelum mengonsumsi suplemen tertentu dalam jangka panjang. Dengan penanganan yang tepat dan pola hidup sehat, kondisi jerawat dapat lebih terkontrol dan proses penyembuhan kulit berlangsung lebih optimal.
