JATIMTIMES - Di tengah meningkatnya kebutuhan penguasaan bahasa Inggris sejak usia dini, akses terhadap pembelajaran tambahan masih menjadi tantangan bagi sebagian keluarga. Menjawab kondisi tersebut, sebuah program di Surabaya hadir memberikan layanan belajar bahasa Inggris gratis bagi ratusan anak usia dini.
Program itu bernama Rumah Inggris Ceria dan Hebat (RICH ), yang digagas Kecamatan Pakal bersama Bunda PAUD Kecamatan Pakal. Dalam waktu singkat, kuota ratusan peserta langsung terpenuhi dan sebagian calon peserta bahkan masuk daftar tunggu. Antusiasme tersebut menunjukkan tingginya kebutuhan masyarakat terhadap pendidikan bahasa asing yang terjangkau dan mudah diakses.

Bunda PAUD Kecamatan Pakal, Aprilia Ayu Nilawati , mengatakan RICH lahir dari kegelisahan melihat belum meratanya pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di tingkat pendidikan anak usia dini dan sekolah dasar kelas awal. Padahal, kemampuan berbahasa Inggris semakin dibutuhkan sebagai bekal generasi muda menghadapi persaingan global.
"Usia dini merupakan masa emas perkembangan anak. Pada fase ini mereka sangat cepat menyerap pengetahuan, termasuk bahasa. Karena itu kami ingin memberikan kesempatan kepada anak-anak untuk mengenal bahasa Inggris sejak awal dengan cara yang menyenangkan," kata Ayu sapaan akrabnya.
Menurutnya, tidak semua TK maupun SD kelas 1 dan 2 memiliki pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang memadai. Di sisi lain, kursus bahasa Inggris masih menjadi layanan yang belum bisa dijangkau seluruh keluarga karena faktor biaya.
“Berangkat dari kondisi tersebut, RICH hadir sebagai ruang belajar alternatif yang dapat diakses secara gratis oleh warga. Program ini juga melibatkan mentor dari Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) dengan pendekatan fun learning atau belajar sambil bermain sehingga anak-anak dapat belajar tanpa tekanan,” terangnya.
Menariknya, dampak program ini tidak hanya terlihat dari kemampuan berbahasa Inggris peserta. Banyak orang tua mengaku melihat perubahan perilaku anak setelah mengikuti kelas-kelas RICH.
Ila Nurfia, salah satu orang tua Gina, menilai program tersebut membantu anak-anak menjadi lebih percaya diri dan lebih aktif berinteraksi dengan lingkungan sekitar.
"Program ini sangat bermanfaat bagi anak-anak. Selain belajar bahasa Inggris, mereka juga menjadi lebih percaya diri dan lebih mudah berinteraksi dengan teman-temannya. Saya berharap kegiatan seperti ini dapat terus berlanjut dan frekuensinya ditingkatkan agar anak-anak memiliki lebih banyak aktivitas positif di luar penggunaan gawai," ujar Ila Nurfia.

Cerita serupa datang dari Yeni, orang tua Klarisa Anandia. Ia mengaku putrinya yang sebelumnya cenderung pendiam kini lebih terbuka dan berani bergaul setelah mengikuti program tersebut.
"Sebelumnya anak saya cenderung pendiam, tetapi setelah mengikuti program ini ia menjadi lebih ceria, memiliki banyak teman, dan semakin percaya diri. Di rumah juga sering menyanyikan lagu-lagu berbahasa Inggris yang dipelajarinya," kata Yeni.
Sementara itu, Wiwin Linda melihat perubahan signifikan pada putranya, Raihan Prabuwijaya. Selain lebih berani tampil di depan umum, anaknya kini menunjukkan ketertarikan lebih besar terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.
"Anak saya menjadi lebih berani dan antusias belajar bahasa Inggris. Bahkan di rumah ia sering mengulang materi yang didapatkan dan bertanya tentang kosakata baru. Program ini sangat bermanfaat dan semoga terus berlanjut," tandasnya.
