JATIMTIMES — Cita rasa baru dunia kuliner kini hadir di kawasan wisata Kota Lama Surabaya. Hadirnya 10 Regentstraat menjadi penanda kebangkitan ruang bersejarah yang kini disulap menjadi destinasi kuliner sarat makna sejarah.  

Berlokasi di bangunan cagar budaya yang dulunya difungsikan sebagai kantor pos, tempat ini tak sekadar menawarkan makanan, tetapi juga pengalaman menelusuri jejak sejarah. Konsep yang diusung memadukan pelestarian arsitektur lama dengan geliat ekonomi kreatif berbasis budaya.

Pihak Regentstraat menegaskan komitmen menjaga keaslian bangunan tanpa mengorbankan fungsinya sebagai ruang publik yang hidup dan produktif. 

Direktur 10 Regentstraat, Steffiani Setyadji, mengungkapkan bahwa nama “Regentstraat” bukan sekadar label, melainkan bagian dari identitas historis kawasan. “Nama ini punya nilai sejarah yang kuat. Dulu kawasan ini dikenal sebagai Regentstraat, jalan utama pada masanya. Angka ‘10’ kami tambahkan karena sesuai alamat di Jalan Rajawali nomor 10, supaya mudah dikenali,” ujarnya. 

Ia menekankan, makanan menjadi jembatan utama untuk menyampaikan narasi masa lalu kepada pengunjung. Menu yang disajikan merefleksikan akulturasi budaya, mulai dari pengaruh Eropa hingga kekayaan kuliner Nusantara.  

“Kami ingin setiap hidangan membawa cerita. Ada menu bercita rasa Belanda seperti bistik lidah dan bitterballen, tapi juga dipadukan dengan kekayaan lokal—mulai olahan ayam, ikan berbumbu khas Manado, hingga siomay Bandung. Jadi dalam satu meja, pengunjung bisa merasakan lintas budaya,” ujarnya. 

Pandangan serupa disampaikan CEO Pos Bloc Surabaya, Jimmy Saputro, yang melihat kehadiran tempat ini sebagai langkah awal menghidupkan kembali ekosistem bisnis di kawasan Kota Lama. 

“Perlu ada yang memulai. Mungkin sekarang belum masif, tapi kalau sudah ada tempat nyaman dengan konsep kuat, pelaku usaha lain pasti ikut bergerak. Ini momentum ‘pecah telur’ untuk Kota Lama,” tegasnya.

Ia juga menyoroti pentingnya konservasi bangunan tua sebagai tanggung jawab bersama. Menurutnya, nilai sejarah tidak boleh hilang hanya karena modernisasi. 

“Bangunan ini sudah berusia ratusan tahun. Kalau bukan kita yang merawat, siapa lagi? Renovasi yang kami lakukan sangat minimal—struktur utama tetap dipertahankan, hanya ditambah pencahayaan agar suasananya lebih hidup,” imbuh Jimmy. 

Lebih jauh, ia menyebut inisiatif ini sejalan dengan upaya Pemerintah Kota Surabaya dalam menghidupkan kembali kawasan bersejarah sebagai pusat ekonomi baru yang berkelanjutan. Sebagai informasi, 10 Regentstraat merupakan bagian dari Happy Puppy Group, yang juga dikenal melalui restoran legendaris Tutto Bono.
