JATIMTIMES - Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) dr. Soebandi terus mengalami kemajuan pesat. Bahkan kabar terbaru, rumah sakit milik Pemerintah Kabupaten Jember ini oleh Kementerian Kesehatan ditetapkan sebagai Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Utama berbasis Hospital Based.
Hal ini disampaikan Bupati Jember Muhammad Fawait pada pres conferen Pro Gus'e Update yang digelar pada Kamis (23/4/2026) malam yang digelar di Lobby Instalasi Rawat Jalan RSD dr. Soebandi.

"Alhamdulillah, rumah sakit dr. Soebandi Jember dinobatkan dan dipilih sebagai rumah sakit pendidikan utama atau hospital Based oleh Kementerian Kesehatan. Kami mengucapkan selamat kepada jajaran direksi rumah sakit," ujar Fawait mengawali sambutannya.
Untuk menjadikan RSD dr. Soebandi sebagai rumah sakit pendidikan utama tidaklah mudah. Ada 200 lebih rumah sakit di Indonesia yang mengajukan ke Kementerian Kesehatan dan yang dipilih hanya 15 rumah sakit di Indonesia.
"Dan rumah sakit dr. Soebandi berada di urutan kelima dari 15 rumah sakit yang menjadi rumah sakit pendidikan. Di Jawa Timur hanya ada dua, yakni rumah sakit dr. Soetomo Surabaya dan rumah sakit dr. Soebandi," ujarnya.
Dipilihnya rumah sakit dr. Soebandi sebagai Hospital Based bukan sebuah kebetulan. Rumah Sakit ini memiliki dokter yang jumlahnya ratusan dengan jumlah dokter spesialisnya 60 dokter, serta dokter sub spesialis mencapai 30 dokter.
"Apalagi sesuai SK Gubernur Jatim, rumah sakit dr. Soebandi menjadi rumah sakit rujukan wilayah timur di 7 Kabupaten di Jawa Timur. Kita harus bangga memiliki rumah sakit terbesar ini," ujarnya.

Sebagai rumah sakit pendidikan, ke depan mahasiswa yang ingin menjadi dokter spesialis bisa kuliah di Unej dan di rumah sakit dr. Soebandi. "Jadi untuk mahasiswa yang ingin menjadi dokter spesialis, baik itu spesialis ortopedi atau lainnya bisa kuliah di Universitas Jember. Nanti praktek di RS dr. Soebandi sekaligus mengambil jurusan spesialis," paparnya.
Penetapan rumah sakit sebagai rumah sakit pendidikan utama ini didasarkan pada Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor HK.01.07/MENKES/111/2026. Sehingga Rumah Sakit dr. Soebandi kini memiliki kewenangan untuk mendidik, melatih dan meluluskan dokter spesialis, dan belum pernah ada mandat seperti yang diterima oleh RSUD dr. Soebandi pada perguruan tinggi.
"Ini sebuah lompatan besar, mandat ini bukan sekedar penghargaan tapi juga pengakuan negara atas sarana dan prasarana yang dimiliki," pungkasnya.
