Busana Khas Kota Malang Dikritik, Pemerhati Budaya Sebut Tak Pas untuk Pribumi

JATIMTIMES - Peluncuran busana khas Kota Malang yang baru-baru ini diperkenalkan menuai sorotan dari berbagai kalangan. Salah satunya datang dari pemerhati cagar budaya Malang Raya, Restu Respati, yang menilai konsep busana tersebut justru terlalu kental dengan nuansa kolonial dan dinilai kurang merepresentasikan identitas budaya lokal.

Pandangan itu disampaikan Restu dalam catatan opininya yang diunggah melalui Facebook. Restu mengaku sebelumnya sempat menerima bocoran desain busana khas tersebut beberapa hari sebelum peluncuran. Dalam lampiran yang diterimanya, terdapat tiga desain dengan penamaan Desain 3, Desain 4, dan Desain 5.

Masing-masing desain disebut dibedakan berdasarkan jenjang jabatan atau kelompok pengguna. Desain 3 diperuntukkan bagi Eselon II dan anggota DPRD, Desain 4 untuk Eselon III, sedangkan Desain 5 ditujukan bagi Eselon IV, pelaksana, hingga masyarakat umum.

Pembagian itu yang kemudian memunculkan catatan kritis dari Restu.
“Saya berpikir...wah ada pembagian kasta nih,” tulisnya.

Menurutnya, pembagian desain berdasarkan kelas jabatan berpotensi memunculkan kesan feodal yang tidak lagi relevan dengan semangat masyarakat modern.

Restu menyebut tim perancang memang mengakui bahwa desain busana khas ini merupakan perpaduan gaya kolonial-tradisional. Alasan yang digunakan, menurutnya, karena Kota Malang dianggap “dilahirkan” pada era kolonial Belanda. Namun justru di titik itulah kritik muncul.

Ia mengingatkan bahwa pada masa kolonial, masyarakat memang dibagi dalam strata sosial, yakni golongan Eropa, Timur Asing, dan pribumi.

Di masa itu, hanya segelintir kalangan bangsawan pribumi yang memiliki posisi sosial lebih tinggi, sementara sebagian besar lainnya merupakan rakyat biasa.

“Dan di era itu memang terbagi dalam tiga kelas, yaitu bagi orang-orang eropa, timur asing, dan pribumi. Hanya segelintir kaum pribumi yang kelasnya berada diatas, yaitu kaum bangsawan. Lainnya jelas rakyat jelata.” katanya. 

Karena itu, ia menilai pemilihan unsur kolonial sebagai identitas busana khas daerah perlu dipertimbangkan kembali.
Menurut Restu, unsur tersebut justru bisa memunculkan simbol sejarah yang kurang tepat jika dijadikan representasi budaya masyarakat Malang saat ini.

Selain desain untuk pria yang dinilainya berkesan “kelondo-londoan”, Restu juga sempat menyoroti rancangan busana perempuan. Pada desain awal yang ia lihat, terdapat elemen penutup kepala yang menurutnya cenderung merepresentasikan simbol keyakinan tertentu.

Ia berpendapat, jika busana tersebut ditetapkan sebagai identitas daerah, seharusnya unsur tradisi lokal lebih ditonjolkan.

“Kalau memang busana khas ini adalah ciri khas daerah, tentunya tetap menonjolkan unsur tradisi dan budaya. Lestarikan penggunaan sanggul, dengan tidak melarang penggunaan hijab bagi pemeluk agama tertentu.” jelasnya. 

Namun, belakangan ia mengaku telah menerima desain lain untuk busana perempuan tanpa hijab. Karena itu, catatan sebelumnya menurutnya bisa diabaikan.

Meski demikian, ia tetap menilai perlu ada penjelasan lebih detail mengenai tatanan rambut, model sanggul, dan aksesori yang digunakan agar tetap memiliki pijakan budaya yang jelas.

Di balik kritik yang disampaikan, Restu tetap memberikan apresiasi kepada tim perancang busana khas Kota Malang.
Menurutnya, hasil desain yang dibuat tampil sangat menarik dan memberi kesan berbeda dibanding busana khas daerah pada umumnya.

“Diluar itu semua, saya mengapresiasi hasil kerja dari Tim Desain. Hasilnya sangat 'wah' dan 'wow'. Maksudnya sangat berkesan mewah dan mengejutkan. Ini sesuatu yang baru bagi busana khas dari daerah.” tandasnya. 

Ia mengakui desain tersebut tampil mewah dan memberi kesan visual yang kuat.

Dalam tulisannya, Restu juga mengaitkan desain busana bernuansa kolonial ini dengan jejak sejarah panjang Jawa pada masa kekuasaan Belanda.
Ia menyinggung nama Sultan Agung yang dikenal sebagai sosok besar dalam perlawanan terhadap kolonialisme.

“Mungkin jika saya hidup di abad 18, saya sama terkejutnya dengan saat ini. Sultan Agung, Sang Sultan Besar, Belanda menyebutnya sebagai "Agoeng de Grote" (Agoeng yang Besar), mungkin juga menangis di 'swargo langgeng' nya.” ungkapnya. 

Ia lalu membandingkannya dengan masa Amangkurat I dan Amangkurat II yang memilih bekerja sama dengan VOC.

Bahkan, menurutnya, Amangkurat II dikenal sering mengenakan seragam militer Belanda hingga dijuluki Sunan Amral.

“Bahkan dengan bangganya ia seringkali memakai seragam militer (angkatan laut) Belanda. Hingga Amangkurat II dijuluki sebagai Sunan Amral.” jelasnya. 

Di akhir tulisannya, Restu melempar pertanyaan terbuka kepada publik mengenai relevansi budaya feodal dan simbol kolonial di tengah masyarakat Malang masa kini.

“Bagaimana dengan Malang? Apakah masih pantas dengan budaya feodal yang telah berusia ratusan tahun itu? Jawabannya ada pada masyarakatnya.” tutup Restu.
