Buah ini banyak tumbuh di beberapa daerah di Indonesia, termasuk di Kalimantan Selatan.
Di Kalimantan Selatan pun, tak semua daerahnya ditumbuhi pohon buah ini.
Namun selain di Kalimantan Selatan, buah ini juga kerap tumbuh di kota yang memiliki julukan sebagai kota hujan, yakni Bogor. Buah ini adalah buah apel mentega atau buah lemak.
Dilansir dari akun Tiktok @sibungbung dan @Galeri Iput, buah apel mentega atau buah lemak masih satu kerabat dengan saudaranya yaitu buah kesemek. Secara bentuk dan warna pun tidak jauh berbeda. Keduanya berbentuk bulan sedikit lonjong dengan beberapa corak putih di permukaan kulitnya.
Meski demikian, perbedaan mencolok bisa ditemui dari tekstur daging buah. Buah Bisbul memiliki tekstur yang lembut mirip dengan sawo, tetapi kesemek memiliki tekstur sedikit keras mirip buah apel. Sebagai sesama marga Diospyros, nama bisbul terinspirasi dari bentuk buahnya yang seperti baseball.
Salah satu keunikan dari buah yang disebut mirip bola baseball tersebut adalah cita rasa buahnya yang cenderung sedikit manis, bertekstur legit dan sedikit gurih, layaknya mentega.

Tanaman ini tumbuh di iklim tropis basah seperti daerah Bogor. Tinggi pohonnya mencapai 15 meter dengan batang yang lurus tegang bewarna cokelat kemerahan hingga hitam, kayunya yang keras, berserat halus, dan bercabang banyak.

Pada bagian daun dari tanaman bisbul memiliki ukuran yang panjang, lebar dan memiliki warna hijau gelap seperti daun tanaman hias. Uniknya, bunga yang dihasilkan memiliki dua jenis yakni jantan dan betina.
