JATIMTIMES – Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) Kota Kediri resmi mengajukan diri sebagai calon tuan rumah Pekan Olahraga Provinsi (Porprov) Jawa Timur XI Tahun 2029. Pengajuan disampaikan dalam Rapat Kerja Provinsi (Rakerprov) KONI Jawa Timur di Surabaya, Rabu (24/6/2026). Selain Kota Kediri, dua daerah lain juga mengajukan diri, yaitu Kabupaten Jember dan Kabupaten Kediri.
Ketua KONI Kota Kediri Eko Agus Koko menegaskan, penyelenggaraan Porprov bukan sekadar agenda olahraga, melainkan momentum strategis untuk menggerakkan perekonomian daerah sekaligus memperkuat program Sport Tourism Kota Kediri.

"Muara dari sport tourism adalah Porprov Jatim, karena kita akan melihat bagaimana kota dipenuhi oleh atlet dan pelatih yang membela daerahnya masing-masing. Roda perekonomian akan berputar mulai dari sektor perhotelan, kuliner, transportasi, hingga destinasi wisata," ungkap Koko.
Siap Setelah Penjajakan Sejak Oktober 2025 Wakil Ketua Umum I KONI Kota Kediri Deddy Setyawan Priambodo memaparkan kesiapan kota dalam forum Rakerprov, mulai dari venue olahraga, fasilitas hotel, layanan kesehatan, akses transportasi, hingga potensi wisata.
"Setelah berkoordinasi dengan Pemerintah Kota Kediri, kami menyatakan siap untuk menjadi tuan rumah Porprov Jatim 2029," tegas Deddy.

Humas KONI Kota Kediri Rino Hayyu Setyo menjelaskan, penjajakan sebenarnya telah dimulai sejak Oktober 2025, termasuk kunjungan studi ke Kota Malang dan Kabupaten Malang yang sukses menjadi tuan rumah Porprov Jatim IX Tahun 2025, serta serangkaian Focus Group Discussion (FGD) untuk menyelaraskan konsep penyelenggaraan dengan program Kediri City Tourism.
