JATIMTIMTES - Industri perfilman Indonesia terus berkembang dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Jumlah produksi film meningkat, platform distribusi semakin beragam, dan semakin banyak talenta muda yang tertarik berkarya di dunia audiovisual.
Namun, di balik pertumbuhan tersebut, akses belajar langsung dari para pelaku industri masih menjadi tantangan, terutama bagi kreator film di daerah.

Berangkat dari kondisi tersebut, Penting Production Surabaya bersama MTN AsahBakat dengan dukungan Kementerian Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia menghadirkan WANI ACTION!, sebuah program pengembangan talenta penyutradaraan yang ditujukan untuk menjembatani sineas muda Jawa Timur agar lebih siap memasuki industri perfilman nasional.
Program yang digelar secara daring dan luring pada akhir Juni hingga awal Juli 2026 itu tidak hanya menawarkan materi tentang penyutradaraan, tetapi juga menghadirkan pengalaman belajar yang dekat dengan praktik industri. Peserta diajak memahami bagaimana seorang sutradara membangun visi kreatif, menerjemahkan skenario menjadi bahasa visual, memimpin proses produksi, hingga mengambil keputusan artistik di lapangan.
Sebanyak 100 peserta mengikuti kelas daring yang kemudian diseleksi menjadi 50 peserta untuk mengikuti sesi luring di Taman Budaya Jawa Timur, Surabaya. Pada tahap ini, peserta mengikuti diskusi, bedah kasus, konsultasi proyek, hingga simulasi penyutradaraan bersama praktisi perfilman.
Lokakarya tersebut menghadirkan dua sutradara film nasional sebagai mentor, yakni Agung Sentausa dan Bernardus Raka. Keduanya berbagi pengalaman mengenai proses kreatif sekaligus tantangan yang dihadapi seorang sutradara dalam industri perfilman.
Agung Sentausa mengatakan bahwa menjadi sutradara bukan sekadar perkara teknis meneriakkan kata Action atau Cut di lapangan, melainkan seni menerjemahkan rasa dan emosi ke dalam bahasa gambar. Ia pun mengaku antusias dapat berbagi pengalaman dengan para sineas muda Jawa Timur.
“Tantangan terbesar seorang sutradara saat ini adalah mempertahankan kepekaan rasa di tengah gempuran teknologi visual yang kian canggih. Baginya, teknologi hanyalah alat bantu, sedangkan ruh dari sebuah film terletak pada bagaimana sutradara mampu menerjemahkan dinamika emosi manusia di lembar kertas skenario menjadi visual yang bernyawa dan menggetarkan hati penonton. Saya berharap lokakarya ini tidak hanya melahirkan sutradara yang andal secara teknis, tetapi juga kreator yang memiliki kepekaan emosional dan visi personal yang kuat untuk mewarnai sinema nasional,” katanya.

Sementara itu, Bernardus Raka membagikan pengalamannya saat bertransisi dari menyutradarai film pendek menuju film panjang. Menurutnya, tantangan seorang sutradara tidak hanya terletak pada kemampuan teknis, tetapi juga pada kepemimpinan serta pengambilan keputusan dalam situasi yang dinamis selama proses produksi.
“Pengalaman pribadi saya saat pertama kali melakukan transisi menyutradarai film panjang layar lebar perdana sangat menguras energi fisik dan psikologis. Di dalam set syuting yang sesungguhnya, sutradara adalah nakhoda utama yang harus mengambil puluhan keputusan krusial di tengah situasi yang sering kali tidak terduga dan penuh kekacauan. Kemampuan mengelola dinamika manusia dan memecahkan masalah dengan cepat di lapangan adalah kunci keberhasilan produksi,” ucapnya.
Program diikuti oleh pelaku perfilman, mahasiswa, komunitas film, pengajar, hingga kreator audiovisual. Keberagaman latar belakang peserta diharapkan tidak hanya memperkaya proses belajar, tetapi juga melahirkan jejaring kolaborasi baru di ekosistem perfilman Jawa Timur.
Lewat WANI ACTION!, penyelenggara berharap semakin banyak talenta daerah yang memiliki kesempatan mengembangkan kapasitasnya tanpa harus bergantung pada pusat industri di Jakarta. Kehadiran ruang belajar seperti ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal lahirnya lebih banyak sutradara dengan perspektif lokal yang mampu bersaing di tingkat nasional dan memperkaya wajah perfilman Indonesia.
