Penandatanganan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) strategis bersama Departemen Taekwondo Universitas Gwangju, Korea Selatan,

JATIMTIMES – Pengurus Provinsi Taekwondo Indonesia (Pengprov TI) Jawa Timur mengambil langkah progresif untuk mendongkrak mutu atlet dan pendidikan holistik internasional.  Langkah ini ditandai dengan penandatanganan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) strategis bersama Departemen Taekwondo Universitas Gwangju, Korea Selatan, di Surabaya, Selasa (16/6/2026). 

Kemitraan internasional ini dirancang untuk memperluas saling pengertian, mendorong kemajuan akademis, serta memperkuat daya saing pendidikan dan prestasi olahraga kedua institusi di kancah global. 

Kesepakatan bersejarah tersebut ditandatangani langsung oleh Wakil Ketua Umum Pengprov TI Jatim, Hendra Prastiyawan, dan Profesor Departemen Taekwondo Gwangju University, Prof. Kim Ji-Hyuk. 

Melalui kemitraan ini, kedua belah pihak berkomitmen penuh untuk saling mendukung dalam pengembangan sumber daya manusia (SDM) yang unggul. Khususnya melalui integrasi ilmu pengetahuan akademis (sport science) dan pembinaan olahraga taekwondo yang terstruktur. 

Ketua Pengprov TI Jatim, Mayjen TNI (P) Yusman Madayun, S.I.P., melalui Wakil Ketua Umum Hendra Prastiyawan, menyampaikan bahwa kedatangan para tokoh taekwondo dari Negeri Gingseng ini merupakan bentuk nyata dari implementasi kerja sama dengan Gwangju University. 

"Kolaborasi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak instan sekaligus jangka panjang bagi ekosistem taekwondo di Jawa Timur. Para atlet Jawa Timur kini ditargetkan tidak hanya mampu mendominasi berbagai kejuaraan domestik, tetapi juga siap mewujudkan jargon 'Jatim Hebat' di panggung olahraga internasional," tegas Hendra. 

Acara seremonial ini turut dihadiri oleh Grand Master Han Kwanggil, tokoh Taekwondo senior asal Korea Selatan yang telah mendedikasikan hidupnya selama 40 tahun di dunia Taekwondo. 

Sebagai sosok yang telah melahirkan banyak tokoh Taekwondo dunia, Grand Master Han menekankan bahwa Taekwondo bukan sekadar olahraga fisik atau ajang kompetisi, melainkan sebuah jalan hidup (way of life). 

"Jika bukan karena Taekwondo, kita mungkin tidak akan bisa bertemu seperti ini. Saya pribadi sangat menghargai dan menganggap ikatan ini sebagai sesuatu yang sangat berharga," ujar Grand Master Han, yang berharap kerja sama ini bisa berkelanjutan hingga ke generasi penerus. 

Apresiasi tinggi dan optimisme besar juga datang dari Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Timur. Kepala Bidang Prestasi Dinas Kepemudaan dan Olahraga (Dispora) Jatim, Abdul Wahab, menyebut kolaborasi ini sebagai momentum sejarah yang krusial. 

Dispora Jatim optimis kehadiran para pakar dari Korea Selatan yakni Prof. Kim Ji-Hyuk, Grand Master Han Kwanggil, dan Coach Lee akan mendongkrak target prestasi di ajang Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) mendatang secara signifikan. Namun, Abdul Wahab menggarisbawahi bahwa kunci utama keberhasilan pembinaan tetap terletak pada kualitas pelatih lokal. 

"Kehadiran tim ahli Korea Selatan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan mutu dan standardisasi pelatih lokal secara drastis," harap Abdul Wahab. 

Melalui standardisasi yang berkiblat langsung pada instansi akademis Korea Selatan ini, Pengprov TI Jatim optimistis akan lahir generasi pelatih baru yang mampu melahirkan atlet-atlet berprestasi dunia secara berkelanjutan.
