JATIMTIMES - Sebuah spanduk besar bertuliskan “Surat Permohonan Maaf ” terpasang di gerbang masuk Universitas Gadjah Mada atau UGM, Sleman, DIY, pada Kamis (21/5/2026). Spanduk itu langsung menyita perhatian publik hingga viral di media sosial karena memuat kritik terhadap pemerintahan Presiden Prabowo Subianto dan Wakil Presiden Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Dalam spanduk tersebut, tercantum tulisan yang mengatasnamakan UGM. Isi pesannya berupa permohonan maaf karena dianggap “membiarkan ” Prabowo-Gibran menjadi Presiden dan Wakil Presiden RI periode 2024-2029.

Menurut keterangan dari berbagai sumber, spanduk tersebut sempat terpasang di depan pintu gerbang kampus UGM pada Kamis pagi. Namun, saat siang hari, baliho itu sudah tidak terlihat lagi.
Pihak UGM kemudian buka suara terkait ramainya spanduk tersebut. Juru Bicara UGM, I Made Andi Arsana, membenarkan adanya pemasangan baliho di area gerbang kampus. Meski begitu, ia menjelaskan bahwa spanduk itu bukan dipasang oleh pihak resmi kampus dan tidak mewakili sikap institusi.
“Meski mengatasnamakan UGM, baliho tersebut tidak dipasang oleh UGM dan tidak mewakili pandangan resmi UGM. Dengan demikian, baliho tersebut mencatut identitas UGM dan tidak memenuhi ketentuan yang berlaku,” tulis Made Andi dalam keterangan resminya, dikutip Jumat (22/5/2026).
UGM, kata dia, tetap menghormati kebebasan berekspresi dan penyampaian pendapat. Namun, penyampaian aspirasi di lingkungan kampus tetap harus mengikuti aturan penggunaan ruang publik dan memiliki penanggung jawab yang jelas.
“Memperhatikan hal ini, baliho tersebut telah diturunkan karena lokasi pemasangan tidak sesuai dengan peruntukan pemasangan media informasi di area kampus,” lanjutnya.

Sementara itu, Pelaksana Tugas Ketua BEM UGM 2026, Sheron Adam Funay, menyebut spanduk tersebut dipasang oleh kelompok akar rumput di lingkungan kampus sebagai bentuk keresahan terhadap kondisi nasional saat ini.
Sheron mengatakan BEM UGM mendukung ekspresi kritik tersebut. Menurutnya, keresahan mahasiswa muncul dari situasi ekonomi dan politik yang dinilai semakin tidak menentu.
“Kampus sebagai ruang hidup kaum akademis selayaknya dan sepantasnya dibebaskan dalam berekspresi. Sebatas itu saja sikap kampus yang teman-teman BEM harapkan. Karena kegelisahan teman-teman tidak berasal dari ruang kosong. walaupun kami tentu mengharapkan Kampus memiliki stance yang lebih radikal terhadap pemerintah,” kata Sheron.
Ia juga menyinggung kondisi ekonomi yang belakangan dinilai memicu turunnya tingkat kepercayaan publik, termasuk dari investor. Menurutnya, situasi tersebut ikut berdampak terhadap kehidupan mahasiswa dan masyarakat luas.
