Pelaksanaan Smart Competition di SMAN 2 Kota Malang yang diikuti oleh ratusan peserta dari Mts dan SMP se-Malang Raya (ist)
JATIMTIMES - Pola kompetisi akademik di tingkat pelajar kini menunjukkan perubahan arah. Bukan lagi sekadar ajang uji kemampuan, tetapi mulai bergerak menjadi ruang seleksi awal yang terstruktur. Gambaran itu terlihat dalam Smart Competition yang digelar belum lama ini oleh SMAN 2 Kota Malang.
Ratusan pelajar SMP dan MTs dari berbagai sekolah di Malang Raya hadir dalam ajang tersebut. Total 103 siswa dari 71 SMP dan 31 MTs ambil bagian, menciptakan tingkat persaingan yang tidak lagi sederhana. Mereka beradu kemampuan dalam tiga bidang utama, yakni MIPA, IPS, dan bahasa Inggris.

Namun yang menarik bukan hanya jumlah peserta atau bidang yang dilombakan. Seluruh tahapan kompetisi, mulai dari penyisihan hingga final, diselesaikan dalam satu hari yang sama. Format ini membuat ritme lomba berlangsung padat dan menekan, memaksa peserta menjaga konsentrasi, ketelitian, dan daya tahan dalam waktu panjang.
Panitia menyebut sistem tersebut memang sengaja dirancang. Bukan hanya untuk menguji kemampuan akademik, tetapi juga kesiapan mental peserta dalam menghadapi tekanan kompetisi. Pola ini sekaligus menjadi simulasi awal bagi siswa yang diproyeksikan menuju ajang lebih tinggi.
Konteksnya semakin jelas ketika kegiatan ini diketahui menjadi bagian dari rangkaian peringatan HUT ke-76 SMAN 2 Kota Malang . Di saat yang sama, ajang ini dimanfaatkan sebagai upaya menjaring bibit unggul untuk dipersiapkan menghadapi Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN) di masa mendatang.
Kepala SMAN 2 Kota Malang Eny Retno Diwati MPd menegaskan bahwa Smart Competition merupakan langkah awal yang sengaja dibuka untuk menemukan potensi akademik siswa.
“Smart Competition ini merupakan yang pertama diadakan di SMAN 2 Kota Malang. Besar harapan kami untuk menemukan dan menggali bibit-bibit kecerdasan akademik agar nantinya mereka dapat bergabung dengan SMAN 2 Kota Malang untuk dipoles menuju ajang yang jauh lebih besar, yaitu OSN tahun depan,” ujarnya.
Dari sisi peserta, tekanan dalam kompetisi menjadi pengalaman yang tidak terhindarkan. Salah satu siswa mengungkapkan bahwa soal yang dihadapi cukup sulit dan membutuhkan ketelitian tinggi.
“Soalnya cukup sulit dan membutuhkan ketelitian. Tapi saya senang bisa mengukur kemampuan dengan murid dari sekolah lain. Semoga hasil akhirnya bisa membawa pulang piala,” ungkapnya.

Fenomena ini menunjukkan bahwa standar kompetisi di jenjang SMP mulai bergeser. Tidak hanya menekankan penguasaan materi, tetapi juga kemampuan bertahan dalam tekanan dan menjaga performa secara konsisten.
Di sisi lain, Smart Competition juga dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana penyampaian kebijakan pendidikan. Pihak SMAN 2 Kota Malang melakukan sosialisasi sistem penerimaan murid baru kepada siswa dan orang tua, termasuk perubahan tahapan seleksi serta penyesuaian jalur domisili dan afirmasi dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya.
“Kami juga sekalian melakukan sosialisasi kepada siswa dan orang tua terkait perubahan tahapan seleksi, termasuk penyesuaian jalur domisili dan afirmasi, agar masyarakat lebih memahami mekanisme penerimaan siswa baru,” tambah Eny.
Dengan seluruh rangkaian tersebut, Smart Competition tidak hanya menjadi ajang perlombaan. Ia merepresentasikan pergeseran dalam dunia pendidikan, di mana kompetisi, penjaringan siswa, dan sosialisasi kebijakan berjalan dalam satu ruang yang sama, bahkan sejak siswa masih berada di tingkat SMP.
