JATIMTIMES - Beredar informasi di media sosial, khususnya di TikTok, yang menyatakan warga Taiwan tidak mengonsumsi ikan yang berasal dari air tawar. Menurut beberapa akun di platform tersebut, seperti akun TikTok @azzam_info, ikan nila yang hidup di sungai-sungai Taiwan dianggap sebagai hama dan tidak layak dikonsumsi. Klaim ini memicu perbincangan di dunia maya tentang kebiasaan makan masyarakat Taiwan, terutama terkait ikan air tawar.

Dalam unggahannya, @azzam_info menjelaskan bahwa jika masyarakat Indonesia melihat ikan nila dalam jumlah besar di sungai, mereka pasti akan segera menangkapnya, apalagi jika pemilik rumah makan melihatnya sebagai peluang bisnis. Ikan nila dikenal memiliki cita rasa yang lezat dan bisa menjadi sumber penghasilan yang menjanjikan. Namun, situasinya berbeda di Taiwan.

"Warga Taiwan menganggap ikan nila sebagai hama dan jijik karena berkaitan dengan risiko kesehatan," jelasnya.

Menurut klaim tersebut, alasan utama masyarakat Taiwan menghindari ikan air tawar, seperti ikan nila, adalah risiko kesehatan. Ikan nila disebut dapat menjadi inang bagi parasit hati manusia, yaitu cacing Clonorchis sinensis, yang dikenal sebagai Chinese liver fluke. Parasit ini dapat menimbulkan penyakit pada manusia dan pernah menjadi endemik di beberapa wilayah Asia, termasuk Taiwan. 

"Kebijakan tersebut mungkin muncul karena alasan kesehatan, mengingat cacing ini pernah endemik di beberapa wilayah Asia, seperti Jepang, Cina, Taiwan, dan Asia Tenggara," tambah @azzam_info.

Sumber lain, akun TikTok @benar7425, juga mengungkapkan bahwa orang Taiwan enggan menangkap dan mengonsumsi ikan yang hidup di sungai. Salah satu alasannya adalah karena sungai-sungai di Taiwan dianggap tercemar, terutama oleh zat besi. 

"Ikan nila yang cepat berkembang biak tanpa adanya predator dan penangkap ikan menyebabkan membludaknya ikan nila di sungai-sungai di Taiwan," ungkap @benar7425. Mereka lebih memilih ikan yang berasal dari budidaya, yang dianggap lebih aman dan layak dikonsumsi.

Fakta atau Mitos?

Meskipun klaim ini telah tersebar luas di media sosial, kebenarannya masih belum dapat dipastikan. Hingga saat ini, belum ada konfirmasi resmi dari pemerintah Taiwan atau Kementerian Kesehatan setempat mengenai larangan atau anjuran untuk tidak mengonsumsi ikan air tawar, terutama ikan nila, yang bukan berasal dari budidaya. Namun, yang pasti adalah bahwa masyarakat Taiwan diketahui tetap mengonsumsi ikan yang berasal dari laut.

Klaim tentang parasit Clonorchis sinensis memang bukan tanpa dasar. Parasit ini pernah menjadi masalah kesehatan di beberapa negara Asia, termasuk Taiwan. Namun, penanganan medis dan regulasi pangan yang ketat telah diterapkan untuk mengurangi risiko penyebarannya. Oleh karena itu, meskipun ada kekhawatiran mengenai kesehatan terkait konsumsi ikan air tawar, masyarakat Taiwan tampaknya lebih selektif dalam memilih sumber pangan mereka.
