Indonesia dikenal dengan negara yang memiliki khazanah kuliner dengan cita rasa khas dan tidak perlu diragukan lagi. Baru-baru ini ada warung kaki lima yang namanya Jancook menjajaki beragam jajanan Indonesia di New York.
Jancook menghadirkan beragam aneka makanan. Antara lain seperti bakwan, sate lilit, tahu gejrot, tahu goreng, klepon hingga minuman kunyit asam.
Yang cukup menjadi perhatian warga di sana, adalah bakwan sayur atau di beberapa daerah disebut weci atau ote-ote. Warung itu dibuka oleh Hendra Lie bersama istri Marcella, dengan membanderol seporsi bakwan sayur itu seharga US$ 5 atau sekitar Rp 70 ribu.
Harga ini terbilang mahal bagi orang Indonesia, tapi nyatanya peminat bakwan di New York tak keberatan dengan harga itu. Jika di Indonesia umumnya dijual dengan harga Rp 500 hingga Rp 2 ribu per buah.
Meskipun harganya di New York Rp 70 ribu, tapi jajanan yang ditawarkan itu lari manis. Hanya saja bakwan yang dibuat itu satu porsi ada 4 potongan bakwan, lalu di atasnya diberi hiasan mayones dan potongan jeruk.
Kemudian ditambah dengan sambal matah khas dari Bali. Tak hanya laris, ratusan orang rela mengantre untuk merasakan sensasi rasa bakwan dan aneka jajanan khas Indonesia.
Banyak pengunjung juga yang memuji rasa bakwan ini dan mengaku merasa ketagihan. Bahkan ada memuji jika bakwan itu adalah makanan paling enak di pasar malam New York.
